Molly Norris & Brandon Hasenfuss

Although there were numerous details that were woven together to create this unique wedding, the most significant was the bride's choice of venue.

Molly selected a place that meant a great deal to her and her family, after all it had been a part of her grandfather's estate and passed down to her father and uncle. She and her sister had spent many happy summers playing there. So it seemed a natural fit for a special occasion like a wedding. Except, of course, the fact that it was a barn.

Beautifully, the unexpected element of a weathered old barn became the theme for the impending nuptials. A local artist was commissioned to create a charming sketch of the place, and it was included in all the stationery, creating a curiosity in her guests that would soon be satisfied with an outdoor October extravaganza.

The ceremony was held at the foot of the hill beneath the branches of a great oak tree. Hay bales were semi-circled for rustic seating and lanterns lighted along the "aisle." The bridesmaids were arrayed in the blazing orange of autumn leaves, and the ceremony was underscored by a string trio playing a special arrangement of "Clocks" by Coldplay and other classical favorites.

Then everyone walked up the hill to share in a reception at the barn. Every part of the decor played a part in transforming a simple site into a sophisticated soiree. Orange curtains were hung in the open doorways, a moss-covered monogram was displayed in the loft, and tables were scattered across the drive with lighting creating an almost magical invitation to celebrate.

The revelry was so much fun, the bride and groom could scarcely believe it was time to depart to the tune of the Auburn fight song. When all was said and done, it was a grand occasion that was filled with special touches that set this wedding apart from the rest.
